OTISFIELD TRAILBLAZERS
MINUTES OF MEETING
March 21,2010

The meeting was brought to order at 5:00 PM by Stanley Brett. Members present: Stan Brett, President, Michael Richards: Vise President, Eleanor Palmer: secretary
Gordon Palmer: trail master, David Riley.

Treasurers Report as read by Stan standing in for Pat Riley
        Checking:  $1326.24
        Savings:     1400.66
        Total:       $2726.90

It appears that all outstanding bills have been paid.
With all our equipment in good repair, we should be all set for next season.

Ellie, again asked for all paper work on trail and maintenance work done so far.  This information needs to be submitted to the state by April 31st.

With regard to the letter from the state (Form 1099-G) it is felt that being a non-profit, we don't need to be concerned.  If there is anything needing to be done about it, we'll hear from the state.

Mike reported that he went out and picked up signs this past weekend.  He said that the swamp on the pipeline is extremely wet.  He hasn't as yet picked up the tripod sign in Chet Barkers field.

Carl has closed the gates to the firing range.  Mike says that the trail on the pipeline from Bolsters Mills Road has been closed with a wire across on both sides of the road.  He also reports that lumbering operations there heading toward Bolsters Mills has caused terrible damage to our trail.

Trail work needing to be done: (1) Out behind the transfer station, definitely  will need work.  Stan knows someone who traps beavers and would have trapped the beavers that made the dam flooding out the areaof the bridge there.  This is something that will be done this coming season.   (2) Out behind the Town Office where a beaver has caused flooding has actually made that area better once it froze over.   (3) The bridge on the trail going from Beans field to Route 121 needs to be replaced and the bridges behind Mark McKays will need repair also.

Stan mentioned that Jeff Marble is working on a grant to help get money for maintaining our trails for recreational use. Our trails are used by hikers, cross country skiers, mountain bikers and horseback riders at various times of the year.  The money could be used to purchase a stump grinder to help level out the trails.  This would eliminate unnecessary damage to groomers and drags.

Respectfully submitted; Eleanor Palmer, secretary

Addendum:  David Riley, Gordon and Ellie Palmer picked up over 50 trail signs on Monday which are now stored under cover, out of the sun at the Palmers.

Respectfully submitted:  Eleanor Palmer: secretary
